Re-Irradiation: Outcome, Cumulative Dose and Toxicity in Patients Retreated with Stereotactic Radiotherapy in the Abdominal or Pelvic Region
UNLABELLED The purpose of the present study was to explore the outcome, cumulative dose in tumor and organs at risk and toxicity after extra-cranial stereotactic re-irradiation. Twenty-seven patients were evaluated who had been re-irradiated with stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) after conventional radiotherapy (CRT). The dose summation of the SBRT and CRT plans was done by dose point calcu...
متن کاملRe-irradiation of head and neck cancer-impact of total dose on outcome.
AIM To evaluate the outcome of re-irradiation and to define favourable pre-treatment characteristics. PATIENTS AND METHODS seventy-five patients with locally recurrent head and neck cancer were treated with re-irradiation, either postoperatively or as definitive treatment, with and without chemotherapy. Mean time period between first and second series of irradiation was 19 months. Mean overal...
متن کاملDesign of a generally applicable abdominal shield for reducing fetal dose during radiotherapy of common malignancies in pregnant patients
Background: In most cancer cases, the treatment choice for a pregnant patient is radiotherapy. In these patients, the abdomen is usually not exposed therefore fetus exposure is due to peripheral dose (PD). The purpose of this study was to estimate the fetal dose (the maximum PD in each pregnancy stage) for modalities available and to fabricate and evaluate a generally applicable fetal ...
متن کاملPrognostic parameters and outcome after re-irradiation for progressive glioblastoma.
OBJECTIVES In progressive glioblastoma, salvage treatment remains unstandardized, response is highly variable, and detailed analysis of individual approaches is mandatory. Re-irradiation is an established option in the therapy of progressive glioblastoma. Thus, we analysed outcome and prognostic parameters of patients with re-irradiated glioblastoma treated at our institution since 1998. MATE...
متن کاملComparing rigid and deformable dose registration for high dose thoracic re-irradiation.
For patients with locally-recurrent lung cancer, high dose thoracic re-irradiation can prolong survival. Deformable image registration improves the accuracy with which initial treatments are accounted for compared to rigid image registration. Using deformable image registration will improve correlative toxicity data, and may reduce toxicity for selected patients undergoing re-irradiation.
